For a long time, I’d seen people raving online and close friends were telling me to go to Coal Rooms in Peckham for their Sunday Roast. Last Sunday, I finally got to venture out to Peckham to try this highly celebrated roast. Located just next door to Peckham station, Coal Rooms use to be the ticket office for Peckham Rye. The interiors have a minimalist look and feel. The bar was hugely impressive with a great counter top in the middle room circulating the kitchen area.
The Sunday menu has five Roast options; 40 day-aged Hereford sirloin & smoked chuck, coal-roasted cauliflower, middle white pork coppa & smoked shoulder, welsh lamb smoked shoulder or whole spit roasted Yorkshire chicken. I had the roast lamb which was delicious. The lamb meat was cooked to perfection, it melt in your mouth whilst being full of flavour. The potatoes had the dream level of crispness and the veggies were also done really well. All with a very large Yorkshire pudding and a delicious gravy. A true British style roast style. I highly recommend Coal Rooms to any roast fans or someone looking for a great place for food on a weekend. I can’t wait to go back for another great roast sometime soon, I have have my eye on the cauliflower one for next time.
Roasts from £14-£20
