Espresso Martini Recipe

My go-to recipe for me favourite cocktail.

My favourite cocktail of all time is an Espresso Martini. Most weekends, I make myself one, and so I am excited to share my go-to recipe. This recipe was shared with me by the fantastic team at Chapter 72. See my blog article on Chapter 72 here.

Ingredients for an Espresso Martini

  • 50 ml fresh coffee
  • 50ml Tia Maria
  • 50 ml Vodka (I recommend Reyka Vodka)
  • 3 Whole Coffee Beans
  • Handful of Ice

How to Mix

Put your martini glasses in the fridge to chill.

Put the fresh coffee, Tia Maria & Vodka into a cocktail shaker with plenty of ice. If you don’t have a cocktail shaker, you can use a jam jar. Shake until the outside of the shaker feels icy cold.

Strain into the chilled glass.

Garnish with three coffee beans – one for health, one for wealth and one for happiness.

Cocktail Facts

They were invented by the famous late bartender Dick Bradsell, as an unusual request from a top British model in his London Soho bar in 1983. The Espresso Martini is a cocktail with a story, a history and a legacy.

Prepare the espresso coffee beforehand and let it chill. That will help to reduce the dilution, make your drink colder and even tastier! This will also help maximise the foam when it comes to shaking your drink.

When shaking: Remember to wake the drink to life, do not rock it to bed. That will enhance the frothy foam on top of your final drink.

When straining: Make sure to pour the drink brisk and swift from your shaker. That will help to get all that rich foam out and land on top of your drink.

You should always serve an Espresso Martini with 3 coffee beans, one for health, one for wealth & one for happiness.
