Sunday lunch is such an incredible ritual in London. An excuse to eat lots, eat feel good food, bottomless drinks and enjoying a long lazy afternoon. Mama Shelter do one of the most amazing Sunday lunches in London. Located close to Cambridge Heath overground in East London, Mama Shelter is a unique hotel with a fantastic bar and restaurant.
The Sunday spread at Mama is an all you can eat buffet style Sunday lunch. With French and English classics designed for comfort and contentment, you feel at home at Mamas. With a selection of seasonal salads, cured meats and regional cheeses to start. For mains, there were stable classics such as beef wellington (which was my fav!!), coq au vin, crispy pork belly, Boulangère potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, cauliflower cheese and seasonal vegetables. The dessert station was impressive with so many different options to choose from gooey brownies to a red velvet trifle to a delicious blueberry tart.
I can not not mention the decor as it was incredible. The whole building was painted black with the Mama Shelter logo painted on each side. As you walk in, there are so many different patterns and cool pieces of art. For example, I loved the see-through fireplace and all the TVs playing retro cartoons. Also see below my gallery of images of the interiors to really get an idea of how cool this placed looked. Overall, such an amazing vibe with a fun playlist played throughout our lunch.
I really enjoyed my experience at Mama Shelter, I am definitely planning on going back again soon to check out the bar, the hotel rooms and to show my friends the Sunday spread. Really friendly staff all having a great time themselves which is refreshing to see in London. To sum up, I could not recommend this place more! See their website here.
